Hellenic Hull Management at ECONSHIP 2026: Connecting People and Ideas Across Shipping.
From 22 to 25 September 2026, the University of the Aegean hosted the 3rd European Conference on Shipping, Intramodality and Ports (ECONSHIP 2026) on the island of Chios. The four-day conference welcomed maritime professionals, academics, researchers and institutional representatives to discuss developments in shipping, exchange knowledge and share their views on the industry’s future.
Hellenic Hull Management was pleased to support ECONSHIP 2026 as a sponsor and take part in the discussions. Our participation was especially important to us, as we already have a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in place with the University of the Aegean. This cooperation brings the academic and maritime communities closer together, allowing us to share experience, explore common interests and learn from one another.
The conference covered a wide range of topics, from maritime and intermodal transport to port operations, sustainability and the challenges facing the shipping sector. It was also a chance to catch up with colleagues, meet new people and exchange ideas with professionals working across different areas of the industry.
Hellenic Hull was represented by four members of its team: Ms. Elena Tzouma, Deputy Chief Financial Officer; Ms. Yasmine Ennastaoui, Personal Assistant to the CEO / Office Manager; Mr. Nikos Balaskas, Chief Operating Officer (COO); and Mr. Panagiotis Tsakiris, Accounts Executive.
During their time in Chios, our colleagues attended conference sessions and had the chance to discuss current developments with fellow maritime professionals. They also met with the Deputy Minister of Shipping, Ms. Marina Hadjimanoli, and Professor Maria Lekakou, exchanging views on issues of common interest and the prospects of the maritime sector.
For Hellenic Hull, conferences like ECONSHIP are an important part of staying connected with the wider maritime community. They give us the chance to listen to different perspectives, share our own experience and maintain the personal relationships that remain so important in shipping.
After all, shipping has always been an industry built on people, knowledge and trust. As technology advances and the industry’s needs change, there is still much to gain from sitting around the same table, exchanging ideas and working together.
"We were glad to support ECONSHIP 2026 and to spend these four days in Chios with colleagues and partners from across the maritime community. We also look forward to continuing our cooperation with the University of the Aegean and finding new ways to bring academic knowledge and practical industry experience together."
