Underwriting Executive
To assist the Underwriting Manager in underwriting Marine Hull as detailed within the main duties.
Location
Piraeus, Greece and/or Limassol, Cyprus
Main Duties:
- Supporting the Underwriting Manager in all aspects of the underwriting and management of the marine account.
- Monitor risks written and due for renewal and develop a list of target accounts.
- To interpret, prepare and analyse underwriting data to support the underwriting process.
- Contribute to the successful implementation of business monitoring/management so that the team can pursue an optimal portfolio strategy.
- Daily liaison and correspondence with brokers, including selective marketing.
- Frequent liaison and correspondence with capacity providers.
- Prepare reports and data analysis to assist the team in driving sustainable business growth.
- Liaise with other business areas within Hellenic Hull as required to ensure effective management of the Hull account, including credit control, compliance, claims, etc.
- Preparation and monitoring of peer review documentation/process.
- Deputising for peers when not available.
- Assisting with strategic projects and underwriting insight assessment.
- Assisting other underwriters as appropriate and as required.
- Input underwriting data into risk management/pricing models to generate risk assessments and premium calculations; review and validate outputs to ensure accuracy in pricing recommendations; work closely with the underwriting manager to interpret pricing results and make necessary adjustments; Assist in the development and enhancement of new pricing tools and methodologies.
- Input underwriting data into the ERP system in a timely manner to ensure no backlog builds up and response times are kept to a minimum.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excel and PowerPoint – Intermediate
- Knowledge, understanding and interest in the Marine industry and its parts.
- Knowledge of NavIns beneficial
- Ability to communicate confidently to varying levels of management and with external stakeholders in English.
- Marine insurance experience
- Involvement in the interpretation and assessment of data analytics
- Organised and able to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
